"This Hotel Needs Some Help"

This review is a tough one. I've lived in the DC area for roughly 12 years and don't typically stay in local hotels. But because I was hired to work a massive conference for 6 days at the DC Convention Center, it made sense to have a hotel room. When I was booked in the Hyatt Regency, I didn't think anything of it. I typically expect Hyatt hotels to be pretty nice and well appointed. Sadly this particular hotel fails in so many ways. Upon check-in, I was put in a room on the 3rd floor that felt like more of a reject room than anything. There was trash on the floor in 3 spots. One of the bed's baseboard looks like someone vomited on it and now it's stained. My desk chair was broken and the black out blinds don't close all the way. I had to have the chair replaced and used the trash can to somewhat force the blinds shut. But aside from the room, which could obviously be fixed easily, there are other little things that disappoint. I ordered room service from the hotel restaurant. I got my food served in a paper bag, with plastic utensils, plastic cups and plates and a paper straw. Not exactly the type of service I'd expect for a Hyatt Regency. Why am I even ordering room service? I'll just go to Shake Shack next time and get normal straws. When I posted something about the room on social media, the hotel manager replied and even emailed me. When I went to the front desk to meet him, I waited 10 minutes and eventually had to get on with my day. There is no water in the rooms and the wifi is terrible (1.1 mb). Literally the only thing that was good about this hotel was my dinner on the final night I stayed here. And Mary the server was extremely nice and attentive. So at least there is some good to come from this place. But I just don't think there is enough attention to detail by the staff to make this hotel worth it when there are so many options in the downtown DC area.

Stayed in the property recently for our anniversary trip, there are very classy public areas, loved the gym and coffee shop. Clean rooms. I wished that at least they included a complimentary breakfast. Overall a good hotel to stay, near everything "must visit" while in DC.

Very easy to get around, nice gym with lap pool to get you moving in the morning. No frills, just what you need for a comfortable stay, nice bar for evening drink. It was just a bit away from the conference center, but perfect those interested in seeing the capital and museums.
